Thinking of getting married at Church in the Wood?

God invented marriage, and gave it as a gift to all mankind. We therefore welcome enquires about weddings! However, we are part of the Church of England and there are church rules which each local parish church must comply with. There are also laws set by parliament.

You can almost certainly get married at Church in the Wood provided at least one of you is either a signed up church member or lives within our parish boundaries (check the list of streets within the parish), and neither of you has been married before and then divorced from a partner who is still living. Please contact us if you need advice.

If either of you has been divorced, we would normally not arrange a marriage service in church - but please do not let that stop you contacting us.

We are always pleased to speak to couples who wish to get married, whatever their situation. In exceptional circumstances, remarrying those who have a previous partner still living is possible. Even if marriage is not possible in church, it may be possible to arrange a service of thanksgiving and dedication after a civil marriage - still a wonderful occasion!

We are also often asked to conduct renewal of vows ceremonies. We are very happy to do this, please contact us for details.

How do we book?

Contact the Rector. You can book as far ahead as you like. A deposit is required. Most weddings are on Saturdays. Weekday weddings are possible, but Sunday weddings are not.

How much will it cost?

Typical costs in 2007 would be £345. This includes the use of the church, a minister and organist. However, costs can vary according to your requirements. This will be discussed as your wedding is planned. Fees are due before the wedding.

Getting ready for the big day

When you book your wedding, we will arrange a series of meetings to go through arrangements with you and ensure that your wedding runs smoothly.
